What is Together We Can?
Together We Can is campaign sponsored by the Association of Thai Businesses in the UK to raise Thai morale following the civil unrest in Bangkok.
The main purpose of the campaign is to benefit students in Thailand by assisting them in understanding the way that democracy functions in the West. Together We Can aims to to allow young Thai's to better appreciate living in a democratic country and understand the way that politics works without the need for future unrest.
Where does the concept come from?
Following the recent unrest in Bangkok and the burning of several high profile buildings by anti-government protestors the people of Bangkok embarked on a clean-up mission. The phase “Together We Can” or “รวมกัน เราทำได้” has cropped up around the city to boost morale in this difficult time.
How will the campaign operate in the UK?
The Association of Thai Businesses intends to sponsor many events in the UK under the Together We Can banner. Proposed events include concerts, exhibitions, talks and debates as well as the sale of T-shirts bearing the Together We Can logo.
Some of these events will be free while some will have an entrance charge to raise money for the production of educational resources on democracy.
How will Together We Can raise awareness of democracy amongst Thai students?
All profits raised form Together We Can events will be used by the Association of Thai Businesses in the UK in conjunction with the Royal Thai Embassy, London to produce teaching resources to be used in Thailand.
These resources may take the form of VCD’s, interactive web pages or worksheets teaching the way in which democracy works in the West, in particular in the UK, with the aim of enabling young Thais to appreciate and further understand how fortunate they are to live in a democratic country.
Together We Can T-shirts at Thailand at Trafalgar 2010:
The Together We Can T-shirt will debut at the Thailand at Trafalgar Square 2010 Festival on Saturday 5th June.
